Historic Royal Palaces

The Tower of London have used our British Sign Language Interpreting monthly tour service for over 15 years! We are also working with the Community team at Hampton Court Palace to offer Deaf-led Tours there. Plans are now underway for accessibility for the Deaf at Banqueting House and Kensington Palace.

JJ Leighton, Community Partnerships Producer: Access, Historic Royal Palaces says:

“It has been so wonderful working with Heritage Interpreters on our Deaf Led Tours at Hampton Court Palace. Though the tour is led by John Wilson, having the Heritage Interpreters team there to translate from BSL into spoken English for friends and family of the Deaf visitors attending is something we felt exceptionally important. Their relationship with the Deaf community is incredibly strong & the dynamic between the visitors, John and HI really enhances the tour offer. They are easy to work with, friendly and produce high quality promotional materials that we feature on our website. We’re really looking forward to working with Heritage Interpreters closely across more of our sites in 2026 and beyond."

Deaf Awareness Courses

The Tower of London invited us to their in-house training sessions for the past two years. We were able to inspire their staff to be confident in communicating with their Deaf visitors. A more inclusive environment at the Tower has been attained.

British Sign Language Interpreted Tours and Events

We interpret the monthly BSL tours at the Tower. Over the years hundreds of Deaf people have accessed the history and the stories of this Iconic and World Heritage site, thanks to this interpretation.

Deaf-Led Tours

During 2024 and 2025 we have worked with the Community Team at Hampton Court Palace to create accessibility of the Tudor history of Hampton Court to their Deaf visitors. A specific Deaf-led tour was curated by John Wilson with the help of the knowledgeable historians of Hampton Court Palace. Many more deaf people will be able to experience the world of the Tudor court with a Deaf-led tour during 2026.

Marketing and Media

We have produced short British Sign Language Video adverts to market the tours and events arranged for Deaf people at the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace.
